Frequently asked questions
Where are encryption keys stored?
Can I use third-party sync tools?
They never leave your machine. Outpost uses AES-256-GCM encryption locally. If you lose your key, we cannot recover it.
Yes. Because Outpost saves files as standard markdown in a local directory, you can use Git, Syncthing, or physical drives to sync.
Is there any telemetry or tracking?
What if Outpost is discontinued?
None. Outpost does not connect to the internet. No crash reports, no usage statistics, no pings home.
Your data is just plain-text markdown files on your drive. You can open, edit, and organize them with any text editor forever.
